TECHNOLOGY

For any high-technology product, technology and marketing are interwoven, a knowledge of the applications and limitations of the techniques and materials leading to an understanding of the market and appropriate strategies to address it. As indicated below, there have been three strands to our work, and these are described, together with typical examples of the work carried out.

High-technology manufacture

Most of our work here has been within the electronics assembly industry, though many aspects are transferable to others. We offer a view of the problem that is at once strategic and holistic, from process and materials through to manufacturing organisation and people management.

  • Reporting on potential benefits of manufacturing technology changes
  • Identifying manufacturing problem areas; project managing solutions
  • Reviewing technical requirements for microwave substrates
  • Investigating automated production facility for information displays
  • Carrying out feasibility/design studies for technology transfer to China
  • Investigating the use of sub-contractors

Quality and reliability

Our involvement in quality dates from the early days of ISO9000 and BS9xxx, with practical experience of Qualification, Capability and Process Assessment approval processes, and supplemented by formal audit experience.

  • Carrying out company-wide audits relating to lead-free implementation/RoHS compliance
  • Investigating quality-related process problems
  • Producing quality documentation for ISO9000 and CECC Process Assessment approval

Marketing and market research

Selling we leave to others better equipped – our expertise is in supporting the marketing of engineering products by strategic advice and market research. We particularly enjoy interviewing people, and drawing out their views and needs.

  • Investigation of applications for proprietary plating technology
  • Market assessment on assembly equipment and ancillaries
  • Market and technical feasibility study of new security product
  • Assessment of industry requirements for trained staff
  • Market research on French competitors
